Register Your Students

Schools and other registered programs are allowed to send some of their inventors to a CIC Regional Event. Most schools hold a mini-convention to do the student selection (See "How to Bring CIC into your school for more information).

New! By January 15, 2017, make sure you've logged in and entered your CIC participating students' names and grades into the online roster (this is free) even if they have not yet completed the CIC program.  At the end of January, we will let you know the percentage of students you can register to send to the regionals - based on the numbers of students listed in the rosters. If there are no names in the roster, we will assume you don't want to participate in the regional.  Only students who have been through a regional can participate in the CIC Final. Once the Regional Registration system is active (February 1) you will register students for the regional from the roster you've entered.  Registering a student for a regional is $20 per student.

The Regional Registration System is Open!  You  may register 15% of your student roster for your regional.  A step by step guide is available here: Click Here for the Step by Step Regional Registration Guide

New! The location for your regional has been determined by your school's zip code. As part of the registration process for regionals, you will select the party responsible for paying the regional registration fee and the CIC Annual Finals Event registration fee.  Upon successful registration, you will receive a link to pay for the student as well as a link to the photo permission form.  This form must be completed and presented at the door as the student's entry ticket to be admitted to the Regional Event.

New! From the results of regional judging, CIC will be able to determine which students are moving on to the Annual Invention Convention at UCONN. If your student is selected to move on to the CIC Annual State Final, you or the parent will receive a link to pay for the registration fee.  Photo permission forms will have already been collected at the Regional Event, so they will not be needed for the CIC Annual State Final event.

Note: Students registration fees must be paid before both events, completed photo permission form presented on the day of the regional event and only students who have been through a regional event and selected to attend the CIC Annual State Final event will be allowed to participate in the CIC Annual State Final event.  Walk-ins are not permitted.

Please note Key Registration and Payment Dates on the right side of this page.

Registering student inventors to your Regional Event (NEW!)

Regional Assignments:

(NEW!) Schools have been assigned to a specific Regional Event according to their location. To assure fairness to everyone, students CAN NOT be registered for a different Regional Event, no matter what the reason or problem. Sorry!

Teachers and Administrators:

After you have successfully registered your school, taught the curriculum, and held your local invention convention, the next step is to register selected student inventors to attend the Regional Event assigned to your school. You'll register your students by logging in and selecting them from your roster in your teacher workspace and completing the information about their invention as well as their parents' names and contact information. The roster is new this year, and gives you more control over entering the students' information in a timely manner. (NEW!)

Refer to the blue sidebar at the right to determine which Regional Location will host your school, the date of the event and the date by which the $20 per student registration fee must be paid. For legal reasons, students are NOT allowed to register themselves and all registrations must be done by an adult.  Schools regional location has been determined by the school's zip code; to verify your regional location, please consult this list.

It costs $20 to register a student for a CIC Regional.  Teachers registering their students will select the party responsible for paying the fee, either the school or the parent*. Schools can pay for their students' fees by check against a CIC invoice or online by credit card.  Upon successful registration, you or the parent will receive a link to pay for the student as well as a link to the photo permission form.  This form must be completed and presented at the door as the student's entry ticket to be admitted to the Regional Event.

*During the registration process for CIC Regionals, teachers will be asked to indicate the party responsible for paying the fee for participating in the CIC Annual State Finals Event, should their student be selected to move on to the CIC finals.  While it costs $30 per student for the CIC Annual State Finals Event, each child receives an event t-shirt, certificate, souvenir program with discounts to attractions and a UCONN hat if they complete the scavenger hunt.  Payments from schools are accepted by check against a CIC invoice or by credit card. Regrets, but we do not accept PO's.  If parents are responsible for paying the registration fee(s), they will get an email with a link to pay for their child's registration fee by credit card.

Note: Students registration fees must be paid before both events, completed photo permission form presented on the day of the regional event and only students who have been through a regional event and selected to attend the CIC Annual State Final event will be allowed to participate in the CIC Annual State Final event.  Walk-ins are not permitted.

Registering student inventors to the Annual State Invention Convention (NEW!)

New! From the results of regional judging, CIC will know which students are moving on to the Annual Invention Convention at UCONN. As part of the registration process for the Regionals, schools will be asked to indicate the responsible party for payment of the CIC Annual State Finals registration fee, should their student(s) move on to the Annual Invention Convention. Depending on their selection, when the student has been selected to move on from the Regional event, the school will receive an email with a link to the invoice to pay by credit card or they may submit payment by check to CIC.  If the parent is responsible for the payment, they will receive an email with a link to pay by credit card.  CIC will already have the photo permission form on file from the Regional event, so no new Photo Permission form is needed.
NOTE: Only students who have attended a CIC Regional and were selected to advance to the CIC Final will be allowed to participate.
