BANNER
YEAR FOR CONNECTICUT STUDENT INVENTOR'S BOND AWARDS:
(Hartford,
CT - August 14, 2008)
More
than 225 Students share more than $20,000 in Savings Bond Awards, the result
of Honors received at the 25th Annual Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC).
The Bonds, ordered today, were delayed earlier because our volunteer board
could not handle all the activities in a timely fashion. "The
Bond Process is being automated to ensure more timely purchases from the
Federal Reserve Banking System." says Baumgartner, President of the CIC,
adding that "additional volunteers are always needed, and can also help
us with this and other work."
This
is the highest value of awards presented to the Recognized Inventors in CIC
history, and does not include the value of some of the Special Awards.
Business and other institutions provide support for these awards, and include
software, patent searches, museum memberships, as well as opportunities to
share their inventions with others at upcoming conferences.
If
students do not receive their bonds by Aug. 30th, they should follow the Lost
Bond Procedure or Contact the
CIC for instructions.
INFLATION
FINALLY HITS THE CIC:
(Hartford,
CT - August 14, 2008)
School
Registration Fees will rise for our 2008-2009 School Year to $100, the result
of pricing pressures for commodites and services which the CIC uses to provide
the program to the students. "This modest increase is unfortunate,
but with what is happening around the world, we must act or the program may
suffer." says Baumgartner, Pres. of the CIC, "I am very happy that
we've not had a price increase for more than 15 years, but the reality is that
our costs have risen substantially over the years, outpacing our Corporate
Sponsorships. We hope we can continue to count on these generous donors,
who see our children as their workforce of tomorrow, and are willing to help
cultivate this new talent.".
The
CIC hopes this does not discourage schools from participation. In some
cases, a school may appeal to the board for "Scholarship Grants" to encourage new schools or those in the inner cities of CT to become
members of the growing community of Connecticut Schools and student inventors.
"Imagine if our children create some great inventions that can then be
marketed, it can create new jobs and income for many. Those new
companies then might become Sustaining Donors, to help share the cost of the
program" The CIC is sponsored by some of the best of Connecticut's
Business and Academic communities. View our Sustaining

International Training SUCCESS!!
Hartford, CT USA
1/3/2008: The Connecticut Invention Convention, long
recognized for its commitment and excellence in creative learning
processes for the K-8th grade population, introduced the CIC curriculum and associated processes
with the Ministry
of Education of the Republic
of Mauritius in a unique program called INNOVED. Two of our Teacher Board members, Karen
Brennan, and Honor Kenney traveled to this nation this past January. There, they shared our award winning processes
with this country that achieved independence from the United
Kingdom in 1968, becoming a republic in 1992.
Mauritius,
an island nation off the east coast of Africa is well known for
its agriculture and tourism industries, but has determined to
become a knowledge based economic power, similar to the plays of
the eastern Asian Tiger powerhouse countries of the '70s &
'80s. What better place to start, than at the beginning,
with a solid foundation in educating their children.
This begins a new chapter in the efforts of and
impact that the CIC has on our state, our nation, and the world..
Now in it's 2nd year, INNOVED's Invention
Program now as more Invention Convention students
enrolled than Connecticut has in its own program.
Mauritius was recently noted as one of
the top two most successful emerging economies in the world, by
Time Magazine. .

Convention is Co-Recipient of Connecticut's 2005 "EDDY"
Award for Best Program

|
Using the Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) curriculum, participating
schools teach inventing to their students in grades K - 8. They then select their best
inventors to attend our annual convention, where their work is evaluated by
professionals.
Our goal is to give students an unforgettable experience in using knowledge
and creativity to solve real-world problems, in the hope that many will pursue
careers where they can use their skills to make a difference.
