The Connecticut Invention Convention is a non-profit 501(c)(3)
educational organization dedicated to the goal of promoting creative
problem solving and enhancing critical thinking skills in children
ages K-8.  This program is the beginning of the pipeline for the
state’s future scientists, engineers, doctors, and visionary workers
of the 21st century.  The problem-solving skills learned in this
program tap into all the core curriculum topics that students have
learned to date, and students apply them here to solve real-life
problems that they discover for themselves.

The Convention is the forum for Connecticut's school children to
demonstrate thinking skills through the art of inventing.  It is also
an opportunity to recognize students for creative problem- solving.
Students from schools across the state meet, compete, and
collaborate.  Many students and their parents experience a university
environment for the first time through the University of
Connecticut’s School of Engineering’s many exhibits that showcase
work by UConn's students and professors.  Through the Convention,
many students discover that engineering and science careers are real
possibilities for them.  Students become informed about which
subjects they need to study that will lead to the career paths that
interest them; this way, necessary course work is planned now, so
that students won’t miss out later.

The CIC, which began in 1983/1984 school year, is made possible by
grants, in-kind contributions from Connecticut's finest business and
academic institutions, and the generosity of an all-volunteer board
of directors.

Visit Guidestar, a non-profit information organization that gathers
