The Connecticut Invention Convention is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational organization dedicated to the goal of promoting creative problem solving and enhance critical thinking skills in the K-8 population.  This program IS the opening pipeline of future scientists, engineers, doctors, and visionary workers of the 21st century.  The problem solving skills learned in this program use all one's core curriculum learned to date, to solve a real-life problem a student discovers him or her self..

The convention is the forum for Connecticut's schoolchildren to demonstrate thinking through the art of inventing.  It is also an opportunity to recognize students for creative problem solving, and provide students from schools across the state to meet, compete, and collaborate.  Also, many students and their parents experience their first real college experience provided by the UConn School of Engineering, with the many exhibits showcased by UConn's students and professors.  Many students now discover Engineering and Science as real possible careers, definitely within reach.  This is made more achievable, by channeling a students desire to study the subjects and follow the learning career path in which the necessary course work is planned now, rather than later and perhaps missing out on the challenges of science and engineering

The CIC, which began in 1983/1984 school year, is made possible by grants, in-kind contributions from Connecticut's finest business and academic institutions, and the generosity of an all-volunteer board of directors.
